TAKING YOUR TEAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL

About Us

One Step At A Time was created to help bring people together across organisations to achieve extraordinary things

In today's fast-moving corporate world, organisations are constantly looking for ways to unite teams, strengthen culture, and create meaningful engagement across their workforce. One Step At A Time does exactly that, using powerful shared challenges to bring people together, break down barriers, and build genuine connection across businesses.

Over the past decade we have worked with some of the world's leading organisations, including Morgan Stanley, B&Q, Starbucks, Marks & Spencer and Microsoft, designing and delivering challenges that inspire employees while creating real impact.

Our Programmes

Our programmes range from small, highly focused endurance events to large-scale global engagement initiatives. These have included teams cycling from London to Amsterdam, hundreds of employees riding London to Paris in 24 hours, global offices competing together through virtual platforms, and hundreds of staff taking part in team relays at events such as the London Triathlon.

These challenges are about far more than the event itself.

The Impact

They create shared purpose across departments, spark new friendships between colleagues who would never normally meet, and inspire lasting lifestyle changes, from cycling groups and running clubs to long-term charity engagement.

Together with our partners, millions of pounds have been raised for charitable causes, with over £1.2 million raised in 2025, while thousands of employees have discovered what they are capable of when they work together toward a common goal.

Our Founder

The organisation was founded by James Golding, a world-record-breaking endurance cyclist, award-winning fundraiser, and inspirational speaker described by Red Bull as "the man who refused to die." His journey from terminal cancer patient to endurance athlete embodies the very philosophy behind the organisation: that extraordinary things are possible when people take the first step.

Today, supported by a specialist team of coaches, event experts, and project managers, One Step At A Time helps organisations turn ambition into action, creating experiences that inspire people, strengthen teams, and leave a lasting impact long after the challenge is complete.

James Golding is a keynote speaker who reframes life’s challenges, helping people use them as a turning point; an opportunity to grow stronger, think differently, and use adversity as a springboard into things they may never have taken on otherwise.

Through his One Step At A Time sessions, he draws on his own journey, from a 5% chance of survival to taking on some of the world’s toughest endurance challenges. Combining lived experience with practical insight, he helps individuals and teams build resilience, take ownership, and deliver when it matters most.
